It is the result of a fourteen-year search for her family's roots in Georgia, Mississippi and Tennessee.  As the accounting unfolds, her ancestors are resurrected from the dust of their internment and take on flesh again to live within the pages. By incorporating genealogical details about her ancestors with African American history, she reconstructs the lives her ancestors endured.
